Generic Zovirax is recommended to be applied 5 times (approximately every 4 hours) with a thin layer on the affected and bordering areas of skin and mucous membranes.
The duration of treatment is at least 4 days. In the absence of healing, treatment can be continued for up to 10 days. If the symptoms of the disease persist for more than 10 days, you should consult with your doctor.
The cream is applied either with a cotton swab or with clean hands to avoid additional infection of the affected areas.
Generic Zovirax Side effect
Local reactions: sometimes – short-term redness, itching, peeling, burning or tingling in the areas of application of the drug.
Allergic reactions: rarely – allergic dermatitis (often associated with the reaction to excipients); in isolated cases – angioedema.
The use of Generic Zovirax in all dosage forms is contraindicated in the presence of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as to valacyclovir. For lactating and pregnant women, the drug can be used only in cases where the health benefits of the mother are higher than the possible risk to the baby or fetus. When intravenous administration and intake of Zovirax orally, care must be taken by patients with renal insufficiency, patients with signs of dehydration. Additionally, the solution for infusions should be administered with caution during the development of reactions to cytotoxic drugs with their intravenous administration (and with indications of such reactions in history), as well as in the presence of neurological disorders.
